The tourtière is a French-Canadian meat pie that originated in the province of Quebec

in Canada as early as 1600. The tourtière is a traditional part of

Christmas and New Year’s celebrations throughout Canada,

the Upper Mid-West, and most of the Eastern United States.

Regional variations depend on what foods were available in the area and family recipes

which have been passed down and altered through the years.
